
Surgical Technician - ORMC Surgery

- Prepare operating rooms for surgery by setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assist surgical team with pre-operative preparations, including sterilizing and positioning patients.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures and provide necessary instruments and supplies.
- Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room by following proper infection control protocols.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and report any changes to the surgical team.
- Ensure all surgical equipment and instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained.
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and safe patient care.
- Adhere to safety standards and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the operating room.
- Assist with patient transportation to and from the operating room.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families before and after surgery.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills related to surgical procedures and equipment.
- Adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all procedures and patient information.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies.
- Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of surgeries.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency surgical cases.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor at all times.

Certification From A Recognized Surgical Technician Program: Candidates Must Possess A Valid Certification From An Accredited Surgical Technician Program, Such As The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa) Or The National Center For Competency Testing (Ncct).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Hospital Surgical Setting: To Be Considered For This Position, Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Surgical Technician In A Hospital Setting. This Experience Should Include A Variety Of Surgical Procedures And Specialties.
Knowledge Of Surgical Equipment And Instruments: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Various Surgical Equipment And Instruments, Including Their Uses And Maintenance. This Includes Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques And Infection Control Protocols.
Ability To Multitask And Work Well Under Pressure: As A Surgical Technician, The Candidate Will Be Expected To Assist The Surgical Team In A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment. The Ability To Multitask, Prioritize, And Remain Calm Under Pressure Is Crucial For Success In This Role.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For A Surgical Technician To Effectively Communicate With The Surgical Team, Including Surgeons, Nurses, And Anesthesiologists. The Ability To Work Collaboratively And Efficiently As Part Of A Team Is Critical For The Safe And Successful Completion Of Surgical Procedures.
