  • Perform routine cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and standards
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment
  • Inspect instruments and equipment for damage or defects and report any issues to superiors
  • Assemble and package surgical instruments and equipment for use in medical procedures
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to safety guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with medical staff to determine instrument and equipment needs for upcoming procedures
  • Adhere to strict infection control measures and maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with other members of the sterile processing team to ensure efficient and timely processing of equipment
  • Follow strict protocols for handling and disposal of hazardous materials and sharps
  • Continuously monitor and improve processes to ensure the highest level of quality and safety for patients.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification In Sterile Processing: Candidates Should Have A Certification In Sterile Processing From An Accredited Program, Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm).

  • Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques: A Thorough Understanding Of Various Sterilization Techniques, Such As Steam, Ethylene Oxide, And Hydrogen Peroxide, Is Essential For A Sterile Processing Technician. Candidates Should Also Be Familiar With Infection Control Protocols And Osha Guidelines.

  • Attention To Detail: Sterile Processing Technicians Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure That All Instruments And Equipment Are Properly Cleaned, Assembled, And Sterilized. One Small Mistake Can Have Serious Consequences For Patient Safety.

  • Physical Stamina: This Job Requires Physical Stamina As Sterile Processing Technicians Are On Their Feet For Most Of The Day. They Also Need To Lift Heavy Equipment And Trays Of Instruments, So Physical Strength Is Important.

  • Communication Skills: Sterile Processing Technicians Work Closely With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Nurses, Surgeons, And Operating Room Staff. Strong Communication Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Communicate With These Team Members And Ensure The Proper Handling And Sterilization Of Instruments.
