Job Description

Are you a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse with a strong knowledge and understanding of diabetes management? Do you have a desire to educate and empower patients to take control of their health? If so, Orlando Health is seeking a Diabetes Educator to join our team.   1. Conduct diabetes education and management sessions for patients of all ages, including individual and group settings.
  2. Create and implement personalized care plans for patients with diabetes, taking into consideration their unique needs and goals.
  3. Keep up-to-date on the latest research and developments in diabetes management and treatment, and incorporate this knowledge into patient education.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and dietitians, to provide comprehensive care for patients with diabetes.
  5. Serve as a resource and advocate for patients, providing support and guidance as they navigate their diabetes journey.
  6. Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of patient progress, adjusting care plans and interventions as needed.
  7. Monitor and track patient outcomes and provide reports to healthcare team as necessary.
  8. Educate patients on the importance of self-care and self-management in diabetes management, including medication management, blood sugar monitoring, and lifestyle modifications.
  9. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  10. Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness and promote diabetes prevention and management.
  11. Adhere to all regulatory and ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  12. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient education and care in accordance with organizational guidelines.
  13. Attend trainings, conferences, and other educational opportunities to continually enhance knowledge and skills in diabetes management.
  14. Serve as a role model for other healthcare professionals in promoting compassionate and patient-centered care.
  15. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives related to diabetes care.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Registered Nurse, Diabetes Educator At Orlando Health Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution.

  • Active Rn License: The Candidate Should Hold An Active Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Florida Or Be Eligible For Licensure.

  • Diabetes Education Certification: A Diabetes Educator Certification From The National Certification Board For Diabetes Educators (Ncbde) Is Required For This Position.

  • Clinical Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Clinical Experience As A Registered Nurse, Preferably In The Field Of Diabetes Management.

  • Knowledge Of Diabetes Management: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Diabetes Management, Including Knowledge Of Insulin Administration, Glucose Monitoring, And Patient Education. Additional Certifications Or Training In Diabetes Management Are Highly Desirable.
