Job Description

  1. Provide expert nursing care to patients undergoing bariatric surgery, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
  2. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  3. Monitor and assess patients' physical and emotional status, and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare providers.
  4. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  5. Educate patients and their families on pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as potential complications and ways to manage them.
  6. Ensure proper documentation of patient care in electronic medical records.
  7. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  8. Maintain a high level of compassion and empathy towards patients and their families throughout their surgical journey.
  9. Continuously update and expand knowledge and skills related to bariatric surgery and patient care.
  10. Serve as an advocate for patients and communicate any patient needs or concerns to the healthcare team.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the bariatric surgery program.
  12. Meet all required competencies and maintain all necessary certifications and licensures.
  13. Provide support and guidance to new staff members and assist in their orientation and training.
  14. Maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times, promoting a culture of patient-centered care.
  15. Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and other healthcare professionals.

Job Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications.

  • Active Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Florida.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Bariatric Surgery Nursing.

  • Current Bariatric Nurse Certification (Cbn) From The American Society For Metabolic And Bariatric Surgery (Asmbs).

  • Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Bariatric Surgery Procedures, Patient Care, And Post-Operative Care Protocols.
