Job Description

To support this mission, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Physician Coding Auditor to join our team. As a Physician Coding Auditor, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our coding processes meet all regulatory requirements and accurately reflect the services provided by our physicians. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in coding and auditing, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.   1. Conduct thorough and accurate audits of physician coding to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  2. Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and billing for services rendered.
  3. Identify and communicate any discrepancies or issues found during audits to appropriate parties for resolution.
  4. Collaborate with coding team to develop and implement strategies for improving accuracy and compliance in coding processes.
  5. Stay up-to-date on changes in coding regulations and guidelines, and communicate updates to coding team.
  6. Provide education and training to physicians and coding team on proper coding practices and documentation requirements.
  7. Work with revenue cycle team to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for services provided.
  8. Maintain accurate and detailed records of audits and findings.
  9. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including physicians, coding team, and regulatory agencies.
  10. Uphold the mission and values of Orlando Health by promoting a culture of excellence, integrity, and patient-centered care.

Job Qualifications
  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Medical Coding Standards And Guidelines: A Physician Coding Auditor At Orlando Health Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Medical Coding Rules And Regulations, Including Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs Coding Systems.

  • Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Certification: Holding A Cpc Certification From The American Academy Of Professional Coders (Aapc) Is A Must For This Role. This Credential Demonstrates A High Level Of Expertise And Proficiency In Medical Coding.

  • Experience In Medical Coding And Auditing: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Medical Coding And Auditing, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting. This Experience Should Include Auditing Physician Documentation And Coding Accuracy.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: A Physician Coding Auditor Should Possess Excellent Analytical Skills To Identify Coding Errors And Inconsistencies. They Should Also Be Able To Propose Solutions To Improve Coding Accuracy And Compliance.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Abilities: As A Key Member Of The Coding And Compliance Team, A Physician Coding Auditor Should Have Excellent Communication Skills To Interact With Physicians, Coders, And Other Healthcare Professionals Effectively. They Should Also Be Able To Work Collaboratively In A Team Environment.
