Orlando Health is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Accounting Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing patient accounts and ensuring accurate and timely billing and collections.   1. Manage and maintain patient accounts, including accurate and timely billing and collections.
  2. Review patient financial information and ensure all charges and payments are accurately recorded.
  3. Follow up on outstanding balances and resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
  4. Communicate with patients and insurance companies to verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations.
  5. Utilize electronic medical records and billing systems to document and track patient information.
  6. Collaborate with other departments within the organization to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient accounts.
  7. Stay up-to-date on healthcare industry regulations and changes in insurance policies.
  8. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing any inquiries or concerns related to their accounts.
  9. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information.
  10. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to continuously improve skills and processes.
  11. Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing changes.
  12. Uphold the organization's values and mission by providing compassionate and high-quality care to patients.
  13. Maintain accurate and organized records of patient accounts and billing activities.
  14. Adhere to departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Education And Training In Healthcare Administration Or Finance: A Patient Accounting Specialist At Orlando Health Should Have A Relevant Degree Or Certification In Healthcare Administration, Finance, Or Accounting.

  • Knowledge Of Healthcare Billing And Coding: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Billing And Coding Processes, Including Knowledge Of Icd-10 And Cpt Coding.

  • Experience With Electronic Health Records (Ehr) And Billing Systems: Familiarity With Ehr And Billing Systems, Such As Epic, Is Essential For This Role To Ensure Accurate And Timely Billing And Claims Processing.

  • Attention To Detail And Accuracy: As A Patient Accounting Specialist, Attention To Detail Is Critical To Ensure Accurate And Compliant Billing, Coding, And Claims Submission.

  • Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills: The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Insurance Companies, And Other Healthcare Professionals Is Essential For Resolving Billing Inquiries And Ensuring Timely Payments.
