
Nursing Assistant - Surgical Oncology

- Provide compassionate and exceptional care to patients undergoing surgery for various types of cancer.
- Collaborate with a team of medical professionals to ensure the highest level of care is provided to patients.
- Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs, and report any changes or concerns to the medical team.
- Help patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Administer medications as directed by the medical team.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients by following infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing emotional support and answering any questions or concerns.
- Assist with patient rehabilitation exercises and physical therapy as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and interactions.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Attend trainings and educational programs to enhance knowledge and skills in oncology care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving patient care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: Having A Valid Cna Certification Demonstrates A Basic Understanding Of Patient Care And Nursing Skills.
Surgical Oncology Experience: Previous Experience Working In A Surgical Oncology Setting Is Preferred, As It Shows A Familiarity With The Specific Needs And Challenges Of This Patient Population.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: Bls Certification Is Required For All Healthcare Professionals And Ensures The Ability To Provide Basic Life-Saving Interventions In Emergency Situations.
Compassionate And Empathetic Nature: As A Nursing Assistant, It Is Essential To Have A Caring And Empathetic Nature To Provide Emotional Support To Patients Undergoing Treatment For Cancer.
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: The Role Of A Nursing Assistant Requires Effective Communication With Patients, Families, And The Healthcare Team. Being Able To Work Well In A Team Setting Is Also Crucial For Providing Quality Patient Care.
