Medical Lab Scientist Senior (Microbiology)

1. Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing in microbiology, including but not limited to bacterial cultures, fungal cultures, and antibiotic susceptibility testing.
2. Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure the highest level of quality and safety for patients.
3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, troubleshoot issues as needed, and ensure proper calibration and maintenance.
4. Responsible for performing and documenting quality control and quality assurance procedures, identifying and resolving issues, and maintaining accurate records.
5. Review and interpret test results, and communicate findings to healthcare providers, patients, and other team members as needed.
6. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
7. Stay up-to-date with advancements in microbiology and laboratory technology, and integrate new techniques and procedures into daily workflow as needed.
8. Train and mentor junior laboratory staff, including Medical Lab Technicians and Medical Lab Assistants.
9. Follow all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, and patients.
10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining laboratory accreditations.
11. Adhere to all regulatory and compliance guidelines and maintain accurate and complete documentation of all laboratory activities.
12. Assist in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols.
13. Act as a resource for healthcare providers and other staff members regarding laboratory testing, results interpretation, and troubleshooting.
14. Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and biohazardous waste.
15. Continuously evaluate and improve laboratory processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
