
Medical Lab Scientist Senior (Microbiology)

- Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing in microbiology, including but not limited to bacterial cultures, fungal cultures, and antibiotic susceptibility testing.
- Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure the highest level of quality and safety for patients.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, troubleshoot issues as needed, and ensure proper calibration and maintenance.
- Responsible for performing and documenting quality control and quality assurance procedures, identifying and resolving issues, and maintaining accurate records.
- Review and interpret test results, and communicate findings to healthcare providers, patients, and other team members as needed.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in microbiology and laboratory technology, and integrate new techniques and procedures into daily workflow as needed.
- Train and mentor junior laboratory staff, including Medical Lab Technicians and Medical Lab Assistants.
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, and patients.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining laboratory accreditations.
- Adhere to all regulatory and compliance guidelines and maintain accurate and complete documentation of all laboratory activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Act as a resource for healthcare providers and other staff members regarding laboratory testing, results interpretation, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and biohazardous waste.
- Continuously evaluate and improve laboratory processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field.
Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls) Through Ascp Or Equivalent.
Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In A Clinical Microbiology Laboratory.
Extensive Knowledge And Understanding Of Laboratory Procedures, Equipment, And Testing Methods.
Strong Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Supervise And Train Junior Staff Members.
