Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field: A Medical Lab Scientist Must Have A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field, Such As Biology Or Chemistry. This Education Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform Laboratory Tests Accurately And Effectively.
Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls): Most Employers, Including Orlando Health, Require A Medical Lab Scientist To Hold Certification Through A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp). This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Competency And Expertise In The Field.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures And Equipment: A Medical Lab Scientist Must Possess Knowledge Of A Wide Range Of Laboratory Procedures And Equipment, Including Automated Instruments, Manual Tests, And Quality Control Measures. They Must Also Have A Strong Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Protocols.
