Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant, Certified - Occupational Health to join our team. As a Medical Assistant in our Occupational Health department, you will play a crucial role in providing quality care to our patients and supporting our healthcare providers. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about occupational health, possesses excellent clinical skills, and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care. If you are a certified Medical Assistant with experience in occupational health, we would love to have you as part of our team.

  1. Greet and welcome patients in a friendly and professional manner, creating a positive first impression of Orlando Health and our Occupational Health department.
  2. Assist healthcare providers with patient care by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and assisting with procedures as needed.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, test results, and treatments administered.
  4. Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to ensure efficient and timely care.
  5. Educate patients on occupational health practices and procedures, including injury prevention and workplace safety.
  6. Perform administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and completing paperwork.
  7. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the delivery of patient care.
  8. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  9. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control protocols and OSHA guidelines.
  10. Continuously educate yourself on current occupational health practices and procedures, staying up-to-date on industry trends and developments.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other team members to ensure a positive and efficient patient experience.
  12. Adhere to Orlando Health's mission, vision, and values, embodying our commitment to exceptional patient care and community service.
  13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with maintaining accreditations and certifications for the Occupational Health department.
  14. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
  15. Uphold a professional and positive attitude, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration within the Occupational Health department and Orlando Health as a whole.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant: The Candidate Must Have A Valid Certification As A Medical Assistant From An Accredited Institution. This Demonstrates The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Of A Medical Assistant In An Occupational Health Setting.

  • Occupational Health Experience: Previous Experience Working In An Occupational Health Setting Is Preferred. This Includes Knowledge Of Workplace Health And Safety Regulations, As Well As Experience With Administering Drug Screenings, Workers' Compensation Claims, And Other Occupational Health Services.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: A Medical Assistant In An Occupational Health Setting Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Interact With Patients, Employers, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate Medical Information, Follow Instructions, And Document Patient Records Accurately.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Procedures Is Essential For A Medical Assistant In Occupational Health. This Includes Knowledge Of Common Workplace Injuries And Illnesses, As Well As Medical Procedures Such As Vaccinations And Blood Draws.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Medical Assistant, Attention To Detail Is Crucial To Ensure Accuracy In Patient Records, Medication Administration, And Other Medical Tasks. In An Occupational Health Setting, This Is Especially Important As The Information Collected Can Have Significant Implications For Workplace Safety And Employee Health.
