Licensed Practical Nurse, Perioperative Anesthesia

1. Collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgical team to ensure safe and effective patient care during the perioperative period.
2. Prepare patients for surgery by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
3. Administer pre-operative medications as directed by the anesthesiologist.
4. Monitor patient's condition during surgery and provide any necessary interventions.
5. Assist anesthesiologist with the administration of regional and general anesthesia.
6. Anticipate potential complications and take appropriate action to prevent or address them.
7. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all patient care provided.
8. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
9. Monitor and document patient's post-operative recovery, including vital signs and pain management.
10. Provide education to patients and families regarding post-operative care and pain management.
11. Ensure sterile technique is maintained in the perioperative environment.
12. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
13. Stay up-to-date on current practices and procedures in perioperative anesthesia nursing.
14. Assist with the care and maintenance of equipment used in the perioperative setting.
15. Act as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met and their concerns are addressed.
