- Perform a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures accurately and efficiently, according to established protocols and quality standards.
- Prepare and process laboratory specimens, ensuring proper identification and handling to maintain sample integrity.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues as needed, and perform routine maintenance and calibration.
- Monitor and track inventory levels of laboratory supplies and reagents, and assist with ordering and restocking as necessary.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and medical professionals to ensure accurate and timely test results, and communicate any discrepancies or concerns.
- Maintain strict adherence to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Document and record all test results accurately and maintain detailed and organized records for future reference.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results, and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and other medical staff, and address any inquiries or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in laboratory technology, procedures, and regulations, and incorporate new techniques and equipment into daily practices as needed.
- Train and mentor new laboratory assistants, and assist in the development and implementation of training programs for laboratory staff.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams within the organization to ensure smooth and efficient workflow and promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by laboratory management.
Education And Training: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For The Position. Additional Education Or Training In Laboratory Science Or A Related Field Is Preferred.
Laboratory Experience: Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Or Research Laboratory Setting Is Required. This May Include Experience With Sample Processing, Equipment Maintenance, And Data Entry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency In Using Laboratory Equipment, Such As Microscopes, Centrifuges, And Spectrophotometers, Is Essential For This Role. Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Quality Control Procedures Is Also Necessary.
Attention To Detail: A Laboratory Assistant Ii Must Have A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Accurately And Efficiently Perform Laboratory Tasks. This Includes The Ability To Follow Standard Operating Procedures, Record And Analyze Data, And Maintain Accurate Records.
Communication And Teamwork: Strong Communication Skills Are Important For This Role, As Laboratory Assistant Ii Will Often Work As Part Of A Team And Interact With Other Healthcare Professionals. The Ability To Collaborate And Work Well With Others Is Essential For Success In This Position.
