
Lab Phlebotomist, Certified Full-Time Days

- Collect and process blood samples from patients in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure proper identification and labeling of all blood samples to prevent errors.
- Follow established protocols and safety measures when handling and disposing of blood samples.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain the phlebotomy process and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely collection of blood samples.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality guidelines.
- Perform quality control procedures to ensure accurate test results and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Keep accurate records of all blood samples collected and processed.
- Continuously update and maintain knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, safety protocols, and equipment.
- Participate in ongoing training and education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Handle difficult or challenging situations with patients in a calm and professional manner.
- Assist with other laboratory tasks and duties as needed.
- Follow Orlando Health's policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care and compliance with regulations.
- Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment by demonstrating professionalism and teamwork.
Certification: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomy Technician (Pbt) From An Accredited Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Experience: A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Laboratory Or Healthcare Setting Is Required For This Position. This Experience Should Include Venipuncture, Specimen Collection, And Processing.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Procedures And Protocols, Including Infection Control, Specimen Labeling, And Handling Of Hazardous Materials.
Attention To Detail: This Role Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail And Accuracy, As Phlebotomists Are Responsible For Correctly Identifying And Labeling Specimens, As Well As Ensuring The Integrity Of The Samples For Accurate Testing.
Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Lab Phlebotomist, The Candidate Will Interact With Patients, Healthcare Staff, And Laboratory Personnel On A Daily Basis. Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Collect Blood Specimens And Provide Exceptional Patient Care.
