Job Description

As a Histotechnologist, you will play a crucial role in our diagnostic and research processes by preparing tissue samples for examination under a microscope.   1. Prepare tissue samples for examination under a microscope in a timely and accurate manner.
  2. Adhere to established protocols and procedures for handling, processing, and storing tissue samples.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes and staining machines.
  4. Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  5. Keep detailed records of all procedures and results, including maintaining accurate patient information.
  6. Assist in the development and implementation of new laboratory techniques and procedures.
  7. Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and accurate results.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety protocols.
  9. Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  10. Continuously update knowledge and skills through ongoing education and training opportunities.
  11. Participate in research projects and contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge.
  12. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the handling and processing of tissue samples.
  13. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and colleagues.
  14. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Orlando Health in all aspects of the job.
  15. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  16. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in histology.
  17. Troubleshoot and resolve any technical or equipment issues.
  18. Mentor and train new histotechnologists as needed.
  19. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute ideas for improving processes and procedures.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or manager.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or A Related Field.

  • Certification As A Histotechnologist (Htl) Through Ascp.

  • Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In A Histology Laboratory Setting.

  • Familiarity With Standard Laboratory Equipment And Procedures, Including Tissue Processing, Embedding, Sectioning, And Staining.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Work Independently, As Well As In A Team Environment.
