- Conduct histology procedures: Perform histology techniques, including embedding, microtomy, staining, and cover slipping, to prepare tissue samples for examination by a pathologist.
- Ensure accuracy and precision: Follow established protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure accurate and precise results for patient samples.
- Maintain laboratory equipment: Operate and maintain histology equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance to ensure proper functioning and accurate results.
- Monitor quality control: Perform quality control checks on equipment and reagents, document any deviations, and take corrective action as needed to maintain high-quality results.
- Collaborate with team members: Work closely with pathologists, laboratory technicians, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient workflow and accurate results.
- Practice safety protocols: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Document and report results: Accurately document all procedures, results, and observations in the laboratory information system and prepare reports for pathologists.
- Maintain inventory: Monitor and maintain inventory levels of supplies and reagents, place orders as needed, and ensure proper storage and handling of materials.
- Participate in continuous learning: Stay current with new developments and advancements in the field of histology, attend relevant conferences and training, and apply new techniques and technologies to improve laboratory processes.
- Provide exceptional patient care: Demonstrate a compassionate and caring attitude towards patients, prioritize their needs, and ensure timely and accurate results to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or A Related Field.
Certification As A Histotechnologist (Htl) Through The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Histology Laboratory Setting.
Knowledge Of Histological Techniques, Including Tissue Processing, Embedding, Sectioning, Staining, And Immunohistochemistry.
Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Work Accurately Under Pressure In A Fast-Paced Environment.
