- Perform as a key member of the open-heart surgery team, providing crucial support and assistance during complex cardiac procedures.
- Operate and monitor the heart-lung machine, ensuring proper functioning and adjusting as needed.
- Administer and monitor blood and other medical solutions during surgery.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to assess the patient's condition and make necessary adjustments to the perfusion process.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient information, perfusion data, and equipment usage.
- Monitor and maintain the perfusion equipment, troubleshoot any issues, and ensure proper functioning at all times.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, as well as infection control measures, to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Educate and communicate with patients and their families regarding the perfusion process and answer any questions or concerns.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements and changes in perfusion technology and techniques.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional patient care and ensuring positive outcomes.
- Display strong communication skills to effectively communicate with healthcare team members and patients.
- Work efficiently and effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in meetings, trainings, and continuing education opportunities.
- Adhere to professional ethical standards and principles.
- Collaborate with other perfusionists and healthcare professionals to ensure best practices and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and renew certification and licensure as required by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.

Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Clinical Perfusion From An Accredited Program.
Certification By The American Board Of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Abcp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Clinical Perfusionist In A Hospital Setting.
Ability To Operate And Troubleshoot Complex Perfusion Equipment.
Knowledge Of Current Perfusion Techniques And Protocols, Including Experience With Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (Ecmo).
