  1. Operate the heart-lung machine during cardiac procedures to ensure proper functioning and maintain patient stability.
  2. Monitor patients' vital signs and make adjustments as needed during surgeries to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  3. Set up and prepare all necessary equipment and supplies for each procedure, following strict safety protocols.
  4. Collaborate with other members of the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure coordinated and efficient care for patients.
  5. Administer medications and blood products as required during procedures, and accurately document all interventions and patient responses.
  6. Anticipate potential complications and respond quickly and appropriately to maintain patient stability and safety.
  7. Stay up-to-date on all new techniques, equipment, and procedures in the field of perfusion, and apply this knowledge to improve patient care and outcomes.
  8. Maintain accurate and thorough records of all procedures and follow established protocols for data collection and reporting.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with all regulatory standards and guidelines.
  10. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure clear understanding of procedures and address any concerns or questions.
  11. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control, safety, and confidentiality protocols.
  12. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and education, and actively participate in continuing education opportunities.
  13. Provide guidance and support to less experienced perfusionists and assist with training and orientation of new team members.
  14. Represent the hospital and the perfusion department in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Perfusion Technology Or Related Field: A Clinical Perfusionist At Arnold Palmer Hospital Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Perfusion Technology Or A Related Field. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Of A Perfusionist.

  • Certification From The American Board Of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Abcp): Candidates Should Be Certified By The Abcp, Which Is The Recognized Credentialing Body For Perfusionists. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Required Standards Of Education, Training, And Experience In The Field Of Perfusion.

  • Experience In Cardiac Surgery And Extracorporeal Circulation: A Minimum Of Two Years Of Experience In Cardiac Surgery And Extracorporeal Circulation Is Usually Required For This Position. This Experience Is Necessary To Handle The Complexities Of Perfusion During Cardiac Procedures And To Ensure Patient Safety.
