Job Description

That's why we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Life Specialist to join our team.   1. Develop and implement child life programs to support the emotional, social, and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families.
  2. Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess patients' needs and develop individualized plans for care.
  3. Provide emotional support and education to patients and families to help them cope with hospitalization and medical procedures.
  4. Create and facilitate therapeutic play activities to promote emotional expression, social interaction, and coping skills.
  5. Advocate for patients and families by providing information and resources to help them make informed decisions about their care.
  6. Maintain accurate and confidential records of patient interactions and progress.
  7. Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to enhance the child life program and support patients and families.
  8. Provide education and training to healthcare staff on child development, coping strategies, and the role of child life in pediatric care.
  9. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress and develop treatment plans.
  10. Stay current on best practices and research in child life and apply this knowledge to improve patient care.
  11. Foster a positive and supportive environment for patients and families by building relationships and creating a sense of community within the hospital.
  12. Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards for child life services.
  13. Collaborate with other child life specialists to share knowledge and resources and support each other in providing the best possible care for patients.
  14. Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of Orlando Health in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Through The Child Life Certifying Commission.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Pediatric Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Child Life Role.

  • Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Child Development, Family Dynamics, And The Impact Of Illness And Hospitalization On Children And Families.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team, As Well As Provide Support And Education To Children And Families.
