  1. Provide excellent patient care: As a Certified Medical Assistant in our Oncology department, your main responsibility will be to provide exceptional care and support to our patients and their families throughout their cancer journey. This includes assisting with treatments, procedures, and medications, as well as addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  2. Support medical staff: You will work closely with our medical team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure a smooth and efficient patient care experience. This may involve assisting with procedures, documenting patient information, and relaying important updates to the team.
  3. Maintain patient records: It will be your responsibility to accurately and confidentially maintain patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes. This will require attention to detail and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  4. Ensure patient comfort: Our patients are going through a difficult time, and it is important to provide a warm and empathetic environment. You will be responsible for ensuring patient comfort and addressing any concerns or needs they may have.
  5. Educate patients and families: As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will also be responsible for educating patients and their families about their condition, treatment options, and self-care techniques. This may include providing resources and answering questions to help them better understand their care plan.
  6. Assist with administrative tasks: In addition to patient care, you may also be responsible for completing administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and managing patient records. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills will be important in this aspect of the role.
  7. Maintain a clean and safe environment: It is crucial to maintain a clean and safe environment for our patients and staff. You will be responsible for disinfecting and restocking exam rooms, as well as adhering to infection control protocols.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Medical Assistant Program: A Certified Medical Assistant - Oncology At Orlando Health Must Have Completed A Formal Training Program That Is Accredited By The Commission On Accreditation Of Allied Health Education Programs (Caahep) Or The Accrediting Bureau Of Health Education Schools (Abhes).

  • Current Certification As A Certified Medical Assistant (Cma): In Addition To Completing An Accredited Program, Candidates Must Also Hold A Current Cma Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama) Or The American Medical Technologists (Amt).

  • Experience In Oncology: Orlando Health Requires A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In An Oncology Setting For Their Certified Medical Assistants. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Solid Understanding Of The Specialized Care And Procedures Required In This Field.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures: A Strong Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Procedures Is Crucial For A Certified Medical Assistant - Oncology. They Must Be Able To Accurately Document Patient Information, Assist With Procedures, And Communicate Effectively With Other Healthcare Professionals.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Working In Oncology Requires Compassion, Empathy, And Strong Communication Skills.
