  1. Perform patient intake and assessment, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
  2. Prepare and assist with medical procedures, including administering injections, collecting and processing lab specimens, and performing EKGs.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documenting all procedures and treatments performed.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure proper care and treatment.
  5. Provide patient education on medical procedures, medications, and follow-up care.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including stocking and ordering supplies as needed.
  7. Adhere to all safety standards and protocols, including proper handling and disposal of medical waste.
  8. Keep current with medical knowledge and procedures through continuing education and training opportunities.
  9. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.
  10. Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their families, providing emotional support as needed.
  11. Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient referrals.
  12. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
  14. Act as a liaison between patients and physicians, relaying important information and addressing any concerns or questions.
  15. Serve as a positive and professional representative of the Digestive Health Institute and Orlando Health.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Medical Assistant Program: Candidates For This Role Must Have Completed A Recognized Medical Assistant Program, Which Provides The Necessary Education And Training In Areas Such As Medical Terminology, Anatomy, And Clinical Procedures.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Credential: To Demonstrate Their Proficiency And Knowledge In The Field, Candidates Should Have A Current Cma Certification From The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama).

  • Experience In A Gastroenterology Or Digestive Health Setting: Candidates With Prior Experience Working In A Gastroenterology Setting Will Be Preferred, As They Will Be Familiar With The Specific Procedures And Protocols Involved In This Specialty.

  • Knowledge Of Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems: Orlando Health Uses Electronic Health Record Systems To Manage Patient Information, So Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Such Systems And Be Able To Input And Retrieve Data Accurately.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Certified Medical Assistant At The Digestive Health Institute, The Candidate Will Be Expected To Interact With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role.
