
Advanced Endoscopy Technician

- Assist physicians with advanced endoscopy procedures, including but not limited to: endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR).
- Prepare and maintain endoscopy equipment and supplies, ensuring they are properly sterilized and in working order.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure smooth and efficient patient care during procedures.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and assist with administering sedation or other medications as directed by the physician.
- Document patient information accurately and timely, including procedure details, medications administered, and patient responses.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the endoscopy suite, adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Educate patients and their families on the procedure, potential risks, and post-procedure care instructions.
- Perform basic nursing duties, such as taking patient histories, obtaining vital signs, and assisting with patient transport.
- Stay current with advancements in endoscopy technology and techniques, attending training and educational opportunities as needed.
- Demonstrate a compassionate and professional demeanor at all times, providing emotional support to patients and their families.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations, to maintain patient confidentiality and safety.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to identify and implement process improvements to enhance the quality of patient care.
- Follow all safety protocols and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate inventory of supplies, order necessary items, and monitor expiration dates to ensure availability and compliance with standards.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings to share knowledge and stay informed on departmental updates and changes.
Certified Endoscopy Technician: The Candidate Should Have A Valid Certification As An Endoscopy Technician From An Accredited Organization Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (Iahcsmm).
Previous Experience: A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working As An Endoscopy Technician, Preferably In An Advanced Endoscopy Setting. This Experience Should Include Proficiency In Preparing And Maintaining Endoscopy Equipment, Assisting With Procedures, And Documenting Patient Records.
Knowledge Of Advanced Endoscopic Procedures: The Candidate Should Have A Comprehensive Understanding Of Advanced Endoscopic Procedures Including Ercp, Eus, And Endoscopic Mucosal Resection. They Should Also Be Familiar With The Latest Technology And Equipment Used In Advanced Endoscopy.
Attention To Detail: Advanced Endoscopic Procedures Require A High Level Of Precision And Attention To Detail. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Excellent Manual Dexterity, Strong Hand-Eye Coordination, And The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment.
Communication And Teamwork Skills: As An Advanced Endoscopy Technician, The Candidate Will Work Closely With Physicians, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For The Smooth Functioning Of The Endoscopy Unit. The Candidate Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate With The Team And Work Collaboratively To Provide The Best Patient Care.
