- Conduct threat intelligence research and analysis to identify potential cyber threats to the organization and its clients.
- Utilize various tools and techniques to gather and analyze threat data, including threat intelligence platforms, open-source intelligence, and internal data sources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security operations, incident response, and IT teams, to identify and mitigate potential threats.
- Develop and maintain threat profiles and threat models to better understand the tactics, techniques, and procedures used by threat actors.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest threat landscape and emerging cyber threats, and make recommendations for improvements to the organization's security posture.
- Conduct threat hunting activities to proactively identify and respond to potential threats before they can cause harm.
- Create and maintain threat intelligence reports and briefings for key stakeholders, including senior leadership, to keep them informed of potential risks.
- Participate in security incident response efforts, providing technical expertise and threat intelligence analysis to support the investigation and mitigation of cyber incidents.
- Continuously improve and optimize threat intelligence processes, tools, and techniques to enhance the organization's ability to detect and respond to threats.
- Share knowledge and expertise with other members of the team, and provide mentorship to junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in threat intelligence.
Strong Knowledge Of Cyber Security Principles: A Threat Intelligence Engineer At Optum Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Cyber Security Principles, Including Threat Modeling, Vulnerability Assessment, Risk Management, And Incident Response.
Experience With Threat Intelligence Tools And Techniques: Candidates For This Role Should Have Experience Working With Threat Intelligence Platforms, Threat Hunting Tools, And Other Related Technologies. They Should Also Have Experience With Open Source Intelligence (Osint) Gathering And Analysis.
Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills: A Threat Intelligence Engineer Should Be Able To Analyze And Interpret Complex Data Sets, Identify Patterns And Trends, And Make Strategic Recommendations Based On Their Findings. They Should Also Have Strong Critical Thinking Skills To Assess The Credibility And Relevance Of Intelligence Sources.
Knowledge Of Industry-Specific Threats And Vulnerabilities: Optum Provides Healthcare Services, So A Threat Intelligence Engineer Should Have Knowledge Of The Specific Threats And Vulnerabilities That Are Prevalent In The Healthcare Industry. This Could Include Understanding Of Hipaa Regulations, Medical Device Security, And Other Industry-Specific Risks.
Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: Threat Intelligence Engineers At Optum Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate Their Findings And Recommendations To Various Stakeholders, Including Technical And Non-Technical Teams. They Should Also Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Other Members Of The Security Team To Analyze And Respond To Threats In A Timely Manner.
