- Oversee and manage the ProFee coding operations to ensure accurate and timely coding of professional fee services.
- Lead and mentor a team of coding professionals, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
- Monitor and maintain coding productivity and quality standards, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Stay up-to-date on coding guidelines and regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to improve coding processes and streamline operations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency in ProFee coding.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure coding accuracy and identify any potential compliance issues.
- Provide regular reports and updates on coding performance and productivity to management.
- Assist in the hiring and onboarding process for new coding team members.
- Act as a subject matter expert for ProFee coding, providing support and guidance to other team members as needed.
- Attend industry conferences and workshops to continuously improve knowledge and skills in ProFee coding.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within the ProFee coding department.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
- Serve as a liaison between the coding team and other departments, communicating any issues or concerns and working towards resolutions.
Extensive Knowledge Of Coding Guidelines And Regulations: A Profee Coding Supervisor At Optum Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Coding Guidelines And Regulations, Including Cpt, Hcpcs, And Icd-10 Coding Systems. They Should Also Be Familiar With Payer-Specific Coding Requirements And Regulations.
Experience In Profee Coding And Supervision: Candidates For This Role Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Profee Coding And 2-3 Years Of Experience In A Supervisory Or Leadership Role. They Should Also Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing A Team Of Coders And Meeting Coding Productivity And Accuracy Targets.
Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Or Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Certification: Optum Prefers Candidates Who Hold A Ccs Or Cpc Certification, Demonstrating Their Proficiency In Profee Coding And Adherence To Coding Standards And Guidelines.
Strong Leadership And Communication Skills: As A Supervisor, This Role Requires Strong Leadership And Communication Skills To Effectively Manage And Motivate A Team Of Coders. The Candidate Should Have Experience In Providing Feedback, Resolving Conflicts, And Promoting Teamwork.
Knowledge Of Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems And Coding Software: Optum Utilizes Various Ehr Systems And Coding Software, And The Profee Coding Supervisor Must Have A Working Knowledge Of These Systems. They Should Also Be Adept At Using Coding And Auditing Tools To Monitor Coding Accuracy And Productivity.
