Job Description

At Olsson, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced GIS Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for GIS and advanced knowledge of GIS software and databases. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working independently and can collaborate effectively with our team.The GIS Technician will be responsible for supporting our GIS projects, in areas such as data analysis, data collection, and quality control. This is an incredible opportunity to join a dynamic team of GIS professionals and continue to grow your skills and experience.The successful applicant must have a degree in GIS/Geospatial Technologies, or a related field, as well as advanced knowledge of GIS software, such as ArcGIS and/or QGIS. The ability to work with and customize existing GIS databases is a plus. Responsibilities of a GIS Technician:

  1. Support GIS projects by performing data analysis, data collection, and quality control.
  2. Work independently and collaboratively with the GIS team.
  3. Develop and customize existing GIS databases.
  4. Use advanced GIS software, such as ArcGIS and/or QGIS.
  5. Utilize cartography and spatial analysis techniques.
  6. Create maps, analyze data, and provide support for GIS projects.
  7. Ensure accuracy and quality of GIS data.
  8. Identify areas of improvement in GIS processes.
  9. Develop and implement GIS strategies.
  10. Stay up to date on new technologies and trends in the GIS field.
