Job Description

We are currently seeking a driven and experienced Vendor Category Expert to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies for our vendor partners. We are looking for someone with a strong background in procurement and vendor management, who is passionate about driving cost savings and enhancing vendor relationships.   1. Develop and implement category strategies for our vendor partners in alignment with the overall company goals and objectives.
  2. Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential vendors and evaluate their capabilities, pricing, and quality.
  3. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to ensure cost savings and favorable terms for the company.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and requirements, and develop vendor solutions that meet those needs.
  5. Monitor and assess vendor performance, including quality, delivery, and service levels, and address any issues or concerns that may arise.
  6. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings through effective vendor management.
  7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, serving as the main point of contact for all vendor-related matters.
  8. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, market conditions, and best practices in vendor management to continuously improve category strategies.
  9. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and legal requirements, in all vendor relationships.
  10. Provide regular reports and updates to management on vendor performance, cost savings, and other key metrics.
  11. Mentor and train junior team members on vendor management and procurement best practices.
  12. Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner at all times, promoting our values and culture.
  13. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement vendor diversity and sustainability initiatives.
  14. Continuously evaluate and assess vendor relationships to identify potential risks and make proactive recommendations to mitigate them.
  15. Act as a subject matter expert on vendor management and procurement, providing guidance and support to other teams within the company.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge And Experience In The Pharmaceutical Industry, Particularly In The Vendor Category Of Interest (E.g. Clinical Trials, Manufacturing, Packaging, Etc.).

  • Strong Understanding Of Vendor Management Principles And Best Practices, With A Track Record Of Successfully Managing Vendor Relationships And Contracts.

  • Excellent Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Identify And Mitigate Potential Risks And Issues Related To Vendor Partnerships.

  • Demonstrated Experience In Project Management And Cross-Functional Collaboration, With The Ability To Lead And Drive Initiatives Related To Vendor Selection, Onboarding, And Performance Evaluation.

  • Strong Communication And Negotiation Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Internal Stakeholders And External Vendors At All Levels Of The Organization.
