  1. Conduct research and apply computational chemistry principles and techniques to support drug discovery and development projects.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement computational strategies for hit finding, lead optimization, and candidate selection.
  3. Utilize a variety of software and tools to analyze and interpret computational data, and provide insights and recommendations for further experimental work.
  4. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in computational chemistry and drug discovery, and apply this knowledge to improve processes and techniques.
  5. Lead and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support in their computational work.
  6. Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, including presenting findings and reports to project teams and management.
  7. Manage and maintain computational infrastructure and resources, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all computational work.
  8. Contribute to the development and implementation of new computational methods and workflows to enhance drug discovery capabilities.
  9. Collaborate with external academic and industry partners to advance computational chemistry research and develop innovative solutions.
  10. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines, and maintain high standards of quality and data integrity in all computational work.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Chemistry Or Related Field: A Senior Principal Scientist In Computational Medicinal Chemistry At Novartis Should Possess At Least A Phd In Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Or A Related Field. This Advanced Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Excel In This Role.

  • Extensive Experience In Computational Drug Design: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Computational Drug Design, Preferably In A Pharmaceutical Or Biotech Industry Setting. This Experience Should Include A Demonstrated Track Record Of Successfully Applying Computational Methods To The Discovery And Optimization Of Drug Candidates.

  • Expertise In Molecular Modeling And Simulation Software: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Molecular Modeling And Simulation Techniques And Have A Strong Working Knowledge Of Industry Standard Software, Such As Schrödinger, Moe, Or Gromacs.

  • Strong Background In Medicinal Chemistry: A Senior Principal Scientist At Novartis Should Have A Strong Foundation In Medicinal Chemistry Principles And Be Able To Apply This Knowledge To The Design And Optimization Of Novel Drug Candidates.

  • Leadership And Project Management Skills: Successful Candidates Should Have Proven Leadership And Project Management Skills, As This Role Will Involve Leading And Mentoring A Team Of Computational Chemists And Collaborating With Cross-Functional Teams To Drive Drug Discovery Projects Forward.
