  1. Conduct computational modeling studies to support drug discovery and development efforts.
  2. Design and implement virtual screening strategies to identify potential drug candidates.

  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to prioritize and advance drug candidates through the drug development pipeline.

  6. Communicate research findings and recommendations to project teams and senior management.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experiments and results.

  9. Participate in the preparation of scientific publications and presentations.
  10. Mentor and train junior scientists on computational chemistry techniques and methodologies.
  11. Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental strategies and goals.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Chemistry Or A Related Field: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Chemistry Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For A Computational Medicinal Chemist Role At Novartis. Candidates With A Ph.d. In Medicinal Chemistry Or Computational Chemistry Are Preferred.

  • Strong Background In Computational Chemistry And Drug Design: Novartis Is Looking For Candidates With A Deep Understanding Of Computational Chemistry Techniques And Tools, Such As Molecular Modeling, Docking, And Virtual Screening. Experience With Molecular Dynamics Simulations And Quantum Mechanics Is Also Desirable.

  • Knowledge Of Drug Discovery Process: A Successful Computational Medicinal Chemist At Novartis Should Have A Strong Understanding Of The Drug Discovery Process, From Target Identification And Validation To Lead Optimization And Preclinical Development. Familiarity With Drug Design Principles And Structure-Activity Relationships Is Also Important.

  • Proficiency In Programming Languages And Software: As A Computational Medicinal Chemist, Proficiency In Programming Languages Such As Python, Java, And C++ Is Crucial. Candidates Should Also Have Experience Using Relevant Software, Such As Schrödinger Suite, Moe, Or Chemaxon.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Interdisciplinary Teams Is Essential For A Computational Medicinal Chemist At Novartis. Strong Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, Are Also Important For Presenting Research Findings And Collaborating With Colleagues From Diverse Backgrounds.
