  1. Provide compassionate and skilled care to newborns in a critical care setting.
  2. Monitor and assess the health status of newborns, including vital signs, lab results, and response to treatments.
  3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  4. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and document all care provided.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide education and updates on patient's condition.
  7. Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate interventions to stabilize patients.
  8. Utilize critical thinking skills to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care.
  9. Adhere to all hospital and unit policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  10. Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and improve nursing skills and knowledge.
  11. Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  12. Serve as an advocate for patient and family needs, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
  13. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care and smooth transitions for patients.
  14. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and families during difficult times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Required For This Position. This Educational Background Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Care For Critically Ill Newborns In The Nicu.

  • Registered Nurse (Rn) License: Candidates Must Hold An Active And Unrestricted Rn License In The State Of Employment. This Ensures That The Nurse Has Met All State Requirements For Nursing Practice And Is Legally Able To Provide Care To Patients In The Nicu.

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp) Certification: Nrp Certification Is Required For Nurses Working In The Nicu. This Training Program Teaches Nurses How To Recognize And Provide Care For Newborns In Emergency Situations.

  • Minimum Of 1 Year Of Nicu Experience: Novant Health Requires Candidates To Have At Least 1 Year Of Experience Working In A Nicu Setting. This Ensures That The Nurse Has The Necessary Skills And Experience To Provide Specialized Care For Critically Ill Newborns.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certification: Acls Certification Is Required For This Position As It Demonstrates The Nurse's Ability To Assess And Manage Cardiac Emergencies. This Is Crucial In The Nicu Where Newborns May Experience Cardiac Events Due To Their Fragile Health.
