  1. Provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families during times of crisis.
  2. Offer guidance, comfort, and solace to patients of all faiths and backgrounds.
  3. Build rapport and establish a trusting relationship with patients and families.
  4. Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and adapt to their unique needs.
  5. Demonstrate a strong understanding of spiritual care principles and apply them in daily interactions.
  6. Maintain a flexible schedule to be available for on-call assignments as needed.
  7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care is provided to patients.
  8. Document all interactions and interventions in a timely and accurate manner.
  9. Participate in continuing education and training to enhance spiritual care skills.
  10. Remain up-to-date on current healthcare trends and practices related to spiritual care.
  11. Provide support to patients and families during end-of-life care and bereavement.
  12. Serve as a source of spiritual support for staff and colleagues as needed.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.
  14. Represent the organization in a professional and compassionate manner at all times.
  15. Contribute to the overall mission and values of Novant Health through the provision of excellent spiritual care.

Job Qualifications

  • Degree In Divinity Or Theology: A Prn On-Call Chaplain At Novant Health Must Have A Degree In Divinity Or Theology From An Accredited Institution. This Educational Background Ensures That The Chaplain Is Well-Equipped To Provide Spiritual And Emotional Support To Patients And Their Families.

  • Ordination Or Commissioning: In Addition To A Degree, The Chaplain Must Also Be Ordained Or Commissioned By A Recognized Religious Organization. This Shows That The Chaplain Has Undergone Proper Training And Has Met The Requirements To Serve As A Spiritual Leader.

  • Experience In Pastoral Care: Novant Health Prefers Candidates Who Have Previous Experience In Providing Pastoral Care, Particularly In A Healthcare Setting. This Experience Demonstrates The Chaplain's Ability To Work With Patients From Diverse Backgrounds And Provide Compassionate Support During Times Of Crisis.

  • Interfaith Knowledge: As A Prn On-Call Chaplain, One Must Be Able To Serve Patients Of All Faiths And Beliefs. Therefore, Having Knowledge And Understanding Of Different Religious Practices And Customs Is Crucial In Providing Appropriate Spiritual Care To Patients And Their Families.

  • Availability And Flexibility: This Position Requires The Chaplain To Be Available On An On-Call Basis, Including Weekends And Holidays. Therefore, Candidates Must Possess Good Time Management Skills And Be Willing To Work Flexible Hours To Meet The Needs Of Patients And Families.
