- Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a warm and friendly manner.
- Register patients by collecting and verifying demographic and insurance information.
- Schedule appointments and answer inquiries regarding services and procedures.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations.
- Collect and process payments, including co-pays and deductibles.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate patient care.
- Assist patients with any questions or concerns, and escalate to appropriate personnel when necessary.

High School Diploma Or Ged: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Patient Access Specialist At Novant Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Can Handle Tasks Such As Data Entry And Record Keeping.
Customer Service Skills: As A Patient Access Specialist, You Will Be Interacting With Patients And Their Families On A Daily Basis. Strong Customer Service Skills, Including Effective Communication And Problem-Solving Abilities, Are Essential For Providing A Positive Experience For Patients.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: In Order To Accurately Complete Patient Registration And Insurance Verification, A Patient Access Specialist Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology. This Knowledge Will Also Help Them Communicate Effectively With Healthcare Providers And Insurance Companies.
Experience With Electronic Medical Records: Novant Health Uses Electronic Medical Records To Manage Patient Information. Experience With Emrs And Other Computer Systems Is Highly Preferred For This Role. This Includes Proficiency In Data Entry, Scheduling Appointments, And Navigating Various Software Programs.
Attention To Detail: Patient Information Is Sensitive And Must Be Handled With Care. A Patient Access Specialist Should Have A Strong Attention To Detail To Ensure That All Information Is Accurately Entered And Securely Stored. This Includes Verifying Insurance Coverage, Demographic Information, And Medical History.
