- Greet and welcome patients in a warm and professional manner.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patients and their families.
- Assist patients in scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information.
- Accurately enter patient information into the electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and timely delivery of services.
- Handle phone calls and inquiries from patients regarding appointments, medical records, and general information.
- Explain financial responsibilities and collect payments from patients.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.
- Identify and resolve any issues or concerns raised by patients.
- Keep track of patient records and update information as needed.
- Assist in training and mentoring new Patient Access Specialists.
- Stay updated on all policies and procedures related to patient registration and access.
- Communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, and healthcare providers.
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Handle any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Access Specialist At Novant Health Must Possess A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education To Demonstrate A Basic Understanding Of Math, English, And Computer Skills.
Experience In Healthcare Setting: Candidates For This Role Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In Patient Registration Or Scheduling. This Experience Will Provide A Solid Foundation For Understanding The Complexities Of The Healthcare Industry And The Unique Needs Of Patients.
Knowledge Of Insurance And Billing Processes: A Strong Understanding Of Insurance And Billing Processes Is Crucial For A Patient Access Specialist At Novant Health. This Includes Knowledge Of Insurance Plans, Medical Terminology, And Coding Systems.
Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: As The First Point Of Contact For Patients, A Patient Access Specialist Must Have Exceptional Communication And Customer Service Skills. This Includes The Ability To Clearly Explain Procedures, Answer Questions, And Provide A Positive Experience For Patients.
Attention To Detail And Accuracy: Patient Registration And Scheduling Involves Entering And Verifying A Large Amount Of Sensitive Information, So Attention To Detail And Accuracy Are Essential Qualifications For This Role.
