- Conducting gross examination of surgical specimens, including dissection, description, and sampling for further testing.
- Preparing tissue samples for processing and ensuring accurate labeling and tracking of specimens.
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including microscopes and tissue processors.
- Assisting with autopsies, including evisceration, tissue sampling, and documentation.
- Preparing detailed reports and documenting findings accurately.
- Communicating and collaborating with pathologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment, following all safety protocols and procedures.
- Participating in quality assurance and quality control activities to maintain accuracy and efficiency in the laboratory.
- Staying up-to-date on industry advancements and best practices, and implementing new techniques and technologies as needed.
- Providing compassionate and sensitive care to patients and their families during procedures and consultations.
- Participating in educational and training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Adhering to regulatory and ethical standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA regulations.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement protocols and procedures for optimal patient care.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of laboratory procedures and results.
- Contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication.
Bachelor's Degree In Pathology, Biology, Or Related Field.
Certification As A Pathologist Assistant (Pa) Through The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Pa, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.
Excellent Understanding Of Laboratory Procedures And Protocols, Including Specimen Handling, Processing, And Reporting.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Pathologists, Laboratory Staff, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
