- Dispensing Medications: The Oncology Pharmacy Tech II will be responsible for accurately and efficiently dispensing medications for cancer patients under the supervision of licensed pharmacists.
- Assisting Pharmacists: The incumbent will assist pharmacists with various tasks such as medication order entry, inventory management, and preparation of chemotherapy and other specialized medications.
- Ensuring Compliance: It is the responsibility of the Oncology Pharmacy Tech II to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to pharmaceutical care, as well as Novant Health policies and procedures.
- Maintaining Inventory: The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of medications and supplies used in the oncology department, ensuring that an adequate supply is always available for patient care.
- Patient Education: The Oncology Pharmacy Tech II will play a vital role in educating patients about their medications, potential side effects, and proper usage.
- Collaborating with Healthcare Team: The incumbent will work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and physicians, to ensure seamless patient care and optimal outcomes.
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: The Oncology Pharmacy Tech II must have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all medications are dispensed accurately and according to the physician's orders.
- Continuous Learning: The incumbent will be expected to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and changes in oncology pharmacy practice and participate in ongoing education and training opportunities.
- Maintaining a Safe and Clean Work Environment: The Oncology Pharmacy Tech II will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment and following all safety protocols to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
- Patient Advocacy: The incumbent will advocate for the best interests of patients by identifying and reporting any potential medication errors or safety concerns to the appropriate individuals.
Certification: The Candidate Must Be A Certified Pharmacy Technician, With A Current Certification From The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb) Or National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Experience In Oncology Pharmacy: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Pharmacy Technician In An Oncology Setting. This Experience Should Include Knowledge Of Chemotherapy Drugs, Compounding, And Handling Hazardous Medications.
Advanced Knowledge Of Medications: The Oncology Pharmacy Tech Ii Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Medications Commonly Used In The Treatment Of Cancer, Including Their Indications, Dosages, Side Effects, And Interactions.
Attention To Detail: As A Pharmacy Tech Ii, The Candidate Should Have Excellent Attention To Detail And Be Able To Accurately And Efficiently Enter Data Into Computer Systems, Prepare Medications, And Perform Other Tasks Related To The Role.
