  1. Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Answer and direct incoming calls to appropriate departments or personnel.
  3. Schedule patient appointments and maintain accurate and organized appointment schedules.
  4. Verify patient information and insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
  5. Collect and record patient payments and provide receipts as necessary.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
  7. Assist patients with filling out necessary paperwork and forms.
  8. Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their families to address any questions or concerns.
  9. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient operations of the medical unit.
  10. Adhere to all HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines.
  11. Stay updated on the organization's policies, procedures, and services to provide accurate information to patients and visitors.
  12. Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and record keeping.
  13. Handle patient inquiries and complaints with a professional and courteous attitude.
  14. Follow established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe and secure working environment.
  15. Attend trainings and workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  16. Adhere to Novant Health's mission, vision, and values in all interactions with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  17. Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Ged: Candidates Should Possess A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent.

  • Prior Medical Office Experience: Previous Experience In A Medical Office Setting, Preferably In A Receptionist Or Administrative Role, Is Preferred.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Crucial For A Medical Unit Receptionist To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Staff, And Healthcare Providers.

  • Knowledge Of Electronic Medical Records: Familiarity With Electronic Medical Records Systems Is A Must, As The Medical Unit Receptionist Will Be Responsible For Managing Patient Information And Scheduling Appointments.

  • Customer Service Skills: The Ability To Provide Exceptional Customer Service Is Essential In This Role. The Medical Unit Receptionist Will Be The First Point Of Contact For Patients And Their Families, And Should Be Friendly, Compassionate, And Able To Handle Difficult Situations With Professionalism.
