Medical Technologist - Blood Bank

Novant Health is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Medical Technologist to join the Blood Bank team. This critical role requires someone who is comfortable working independently and in a team setting, and is passionate about helping others. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tests and analyses, collecting and analyzing specimens for the purpose of providing data to help in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.Required Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field• Must be certified as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent• 1-2 years of experience in medical technology, clinical laboratory or healthcare setting• Must have knowledge of laboratory safety and quality assurance practices• Must be highly organized and detail oriented• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Ability to work independently and as part of a team• Proficient in the use of laboratory software and equipment

Responsibilities: • Perform a variety of tests and analyses to collect and analyze specimens for the purpose of providing data to help in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases • Ensure laboratory safety and quality assurance practices are followed • Organize and maintain accurate records of all laboratory work • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies • Communicate effectively with other members of the medical team • Analyze and interpret test results in timely manner • Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment • Follow established laboratory protocols and procedures • Prepare and present reports on test results to medical staff • Stay up to date on new technologies and techniques related to medical technology
