- Provide comprehensive and compassionate care to cancer patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of their condition.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in medical oncology and implement evidence-based practices in patient care.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including nurses, social workers, and support staff, to develop and implement personalized treatment plans for patients.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their families to address their concerns and provide emotional support.
- Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of patient care, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in patient care, including maintaining patient confidentiality and following HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and conferences to discuss complex cases and develop treatment strategies.
- Serve as a mentor and resource to other healthcare professionals, including medical residents and students.
- Collaborate with research teams to participate in clinical trials and contribute to the advancement of cancer treatment.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of cancer care and patient outcomes.
- Keep abreast of and comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the organization in a variety of settings, including patient interactions, community events, and professional conferences.

Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution: To Be Considered For A Medical Oncologist Position At Novant Health, Candidates Must Possess A Medical Doctor (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree From An Accredited Medical School.
Board Certification In Medical Oncology: Novant Health Requires Candidates To Be Board Certified In Medical Oncology By The American Board Of Internal Medicine (Abim) Or The American Osteopathic Board Of Internal Medicine (Aobim).
Fellowship Training In Medical Oncology: Candidates Must Have Completed A Fellowship Program In Medical Oncology Accredited By The Accreditation Council For Graduate Medical Education (Acgme) Or The American Osteopathic Association (Aoa).
Active Medical License: A Valid And Unrestricted Medical License In The State Where The Position Is Located Is Required For Consideration For A Medical Oncologist Role At Novant Health.
Clinical Experience In Medical Oncology: Candidates Should Have At Least 3-5 Years Of Clinical Experience In The Field Of Medical Oncology, With A Strong Knowledge Of Current Treatment Options And Practices. Experience With Electronic Medical Records (Emr) And Clinical Research Is Also Preferred.
