- Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
- Follow established protocols and guidelines to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Maintain equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
- Ensure proper labeling, tracking, and storage of specimens.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and other team members to provide timely and accurate test results.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in handling patient information and records.
- Complete all required documentation and record-keeping accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist with training and mentoring of new team members and students.
- Stay up-to-date with current trends, techniques, and technology in the field of medical laboratory technology.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Handle and resolve any patient or physician inquiries or concerns in a professional and timely manner.

Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field Is Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Techniques Of Laboratory Testing.
Ascp Or Amt Certification: Novant Health Requires Candidates For This Position To Have Current Certification From Either The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or American Medical Technologists (Amt). These Certifications Demonstrate The Candidate's Knowledge And Competency In The Field Of Medical Laboratory Science.
Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Candidates For This Position Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory. This Experience Should Include Performing A Variety Of Laboratory Tests, Maintaining Laboratory Equipment, And Following Laboratory Safety Protocols.
Attention To Detail And Accuracy: As A Medical Lab Technician I/ Mls, Attention To Detail And Accuracy Are Crucial Skills. Candidates Must Be Able To Follow Detailed Procedures And Accurately Record And Interpret Test Results To Ensure The Quality And Reliability Of Laboratory Testing.
