- Conduct mammography screenings and diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols and standards.
- Operate and maintain mammography equipment, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
- Follow proper radiation safety guidelines and protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
- Review patient medical history and assess any potential risks or contraindications for mammography procedures.
- Communicate with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and address any concerns.
- Position patients correctly and ensure optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
- Evaluate images for quality and accuracy, making adjustments and retakes as needed.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to assist in the interpretation and diagnosis of mammography images.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including procedure documentation and patient information.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in quality control and assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and safety of mammography procedures.
- Stay updated on advancements and changes in mammography technology and techniques.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and timely patient flow and scheduling.
- Provide excellent customer service and patient care, ensuring a positive experience for all patients.
- Participate in continuing education and training to maintain necessary certifications and licenses.
Certification In Mammography: Candidates Must Be Certified By The American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (Arrt) In Mammography To Be Considered For The Position.
Knowledge Of Breast Imaging Equipment: Applicants Should Have Experience Working With Various Types Of Mammography Equipment, Including Digital And 3D Tomosynthesis Machines.
Strong Communication Skills: Mammography Technologists Must Possess Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Explain Procedures, And Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals.
Understanding Of Radiation Safety: A Thorough Understanding Of Radiation Safety Protocols And Procedures Is Essential For This Role To Ensure The Safety Of Patients And Staff.
Experience In Breast Imaging: Previous Experience In Breast Imaging, Including Screening And Diagnostic Mammograms, Is Preferred. Experience With Breast Biopsies Is Also A Plus.
