  1. Perform histotechnician duties with high level of accuracy and precision to ensure reliable diagnoses for patients.
  2. Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination using appropriate techniques and protocols.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments in accordance with established protocols and safety guidelines.
  4. Adhere to strict quality control measures to ensure accuracy and precision in all lab procedures.
  5. Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss findings and provide input on patient care.
  6. Maintain accurate records of all laboratory procedures and results.
  7. Keep up-to-date with new advances in histotechnician technology and techniques.
  8. Follow all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe working environment for staff and patients.
  9. Provide exceptional patient care and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  10. Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
  11. Participate in continuing education and training programs to maintain certification and improve skills.
  12. Assist with maintaining inventory levels and ordering necessary supplies.
  13. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines.
  14. Uphold the values and mission of Novant Health and contribute to creating a positive work culture.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Histotechnology Program: Candidates Must Have Successfully Completed An Accredited Program In Histotechnology, Such As Those Offered By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Society For Histotechnology (Nsh).

  • Ascp Histotechnician Certification: Candidates Must Hold A Current Histotechnician (Ht) Certification From The Ascp. This Certification Demonstrates Proficiency In The Field And A Commitment To Ongoing Education And Professional Development.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience: Candidates Must Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Histotechnician In A Clinical Laboratory Setting. This Ensures They Have A Solid Understanding Of Laboratory Protocols, Safety Procedures, And Specimen Processing Techniques.

  • Knowledge Of Histology Equipment And Procedures: Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Histology Equipment, Such As Microtomes, Cryostats, And Tissue Processors, As Well As The Ability To Perform Routine And Special Staining Techniques.

  • Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: As A Prn Position, Flexibility And Adaptability Are Crucial Qualities For A Histotechnician Certified At Novant Health. Candidates Must Be Able To Work Efficiently And Accurately In A Fast-Paced Environment, Handling Multiple Tasks And Prioritizing Workload As Needed.
