  1. Perform accurate and timely processing, embedding, cutting, staining, and mounting of patient samples according to established protocols and procedures.
  2. Ensure the proper labeling, handling, and storage of specimens to maintain sample integrity.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, troubleshoot and report any malfunctions.
  4. Maintain strict adherence to safety and quality control protocols to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  5. Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of results.
  6. Communicate effectively with pathologists, clinicians, and other team members to provide accurate and comprehensive diagnostic information.
  7. Document all procedures, processes, and results accurately and maintain proper records.
  8. Stay current with new developments and advancements in the field of histotechnology and implement best practices to enhance laboratory operations.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with the development of new procedures and protocols.
  10. Adhere to all ethical and regulatory standards and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  11. Provide guidance and training to histotechnicians in training or junior staff members.
  12. Attend and participate in departmental and organizational meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives.
  13. Demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional patient care and contribute to the overall mission of Novant Health.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification As A Histotechnician From An Accredited Institution Or Program.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting, With Preference For Experience In A Hospital Or Healthcare System.

  • In-Depth Understanding Of Histology Principles, Techniques, And Equipment, As Well As Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Protocols.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Accurately Interpret And Analyze Tissue Samples.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively In A Team Environment And Communicate Clearly With Healthcare Professionals.
