
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Specialist

As an ECMO Specialist, you will play a vital role in the care of critically ill patients by operating and maintaining the ECMO machine. - Operate and maintain the ECMO machine to provide life-saving support to critically ill patients.
- Monitor patients on ECMO and communicate any changes in their condition to the medical team.
- Ensure the proper functioning of the ECMO machine and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
- Collaborate with medical staff to develop and implement treatment plans for patients on ECMO.
- Monitor and record vital signs, blood gases, and other important patient information.
- Administer medications and perform other medical procedures as directed by the medical team.
- Educate and train other healthcare professionals on the use of ECMO and its proper maintenance.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care and treatment.
- Adhere to all hospital protocols, safety standards, and infection control measures.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during their time in the hospital.
- Stay updated on the latest advances in ECMO technology and techniques.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care.
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards at all times.
- Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and sensitivity towards patients, their families, and colleagues.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or A Related Field.
Current Certification As A Registered Nurse (Rn) In The State Of North Carolina.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Critical Care Setting, Preferably With Experience In Ecmo.
Completion Of An Ecmo Training Program And/Or Certification From The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (Elso).
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills, With The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment.
