Job Description

At Novant Health, we believe that good nutrition is essential to overall health and well-being. That's why we are seeking a dedicated Dietitian to join our team at the Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI). As a Dietitian at Novant Health, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals to help patients achieve their health goals through proper nutrition. We are looking for a passionate individual with a strong background in nutrition and experience in a clinical setting.   1. Develop and implement personalized nutrition plans for patients based on their medical conditions, dietary restrictions, and health goals.
  2. Conduct patient assessments to evaluate nutritional needs and provide appropriate recommendations.
  3. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure a comprehensive approach to nutrition management.
  4. Document patient progress and maintain accurate records using electronic medical records systems.
  5. Stay up-to-date with current nutrition research and trends to provide evidence-based recommendations to patients.
  6. Educate patients and their families on the importance of proper nutrition and how it can improve their overall health and well-being.
  7. Provide counseling and support to patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have about their nutrition plans.
  8. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care discussions.
  9. Adhere to all regulatory and safety standards related to nutrition and patient care.
  10. Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare professionals regarding nutrition and its impact on patient health.
  11. Work closely with food service staff to ensure patients receive appropriate meals that align with their nutrition plans.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive patient information.
  13. Continuously evaluate and improve nutrition services at the Heart and Vascular Institute.
  14. Participate in community outreach programs and events to promote healthy eating habits.
  15. Attend trainings, conferences, and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in nutrition and patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition Or Dietetics: A Dietitian At Novant Health Must Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition Or Dietetics From An Accredited University. This Provides A Strong Foundation In The Science Of Nutrition And The Skills Necessary To Develop Personalized Diet Plans For Patients.

  • Registered Dietitian (Rd) Certification: In Addition To A Bachelor's Degree, A Dietitian At Novant Health Must Also Have An Rd Certification From The Commission On Dietetic Registration. This Certification Ensures That The Individual Has Met Rigorous Academic And Professional Requirements And Is Qualified To Practice As A Dietitian.

  • Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Prior Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Is Highly Preferred For This Role. This Allows The Dietitian To Understand The Unique Needs Of Patients And Work Effectively As Part Of A Healthcare Team.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Nutrition Therapy: A Dietitian At Novant Health Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Nutrition Therapy And Be Able To Apply This Knowledge To Develop Appropriate Diet Plans For Patients With Various Health Conditions. This Includes An Understanding Of Disease-Specific Diets And Nutrition Interventions.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Dietitian At Novant Health, Effective Communication With Patients, Healthcare Professionals, And Other Team Members Is Essential. This Includes The Ability To Explain Complex Nutrition Concepts In A Clear And Understandable Manner And The Ability To Build Rapport With Patients To Support Their Dietary Goals.
