  1. Develop and implement age-appropriate activities and interventions to support children and families during hospitalization.
  2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess and address the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families.
  3. Facilitate therapeutic play and coping techniques to help children understand and cope with medical procedures and treatments.
  4. Provide emotional support and guidance to children and families during difficult and stressful situations.
  5. Utilize knowledge of child development to create a supportive and nurturing environment for patients.
  6. Advocate for the needs of pediatric patients and their families within the healthcare setting.
  7. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and progress.
  8. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices in child life services.
  9. Mentor and supervise Child Life Specialists I and II and provide guidance and support in their professional development.
  10. Collaborate with community organizations to provide resources and support for families during and after hospitalization.
  11. Assist in the development and implementation of programs and initiatives to improve the overall experience of pediatric patients and families.
  12. Serve as a resource and provide education to healthcare staff on child development, coping techniques, and the role of child life specialists.
  13. Adhere to ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve child life services to ensure quality care for patients and families.
  15. Participate in departmental and hospital-wide committees and initiatives to promote the mission and values of Novant Health.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience As A Child Life Specialist In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Certified Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Credential From The Association Of Child Life Professionals (Aclp).

  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills And Experience In Mentoring And Supervising Other Child Life Specialists.

  • Strong Understanding Of Child Development, Family-Centered Care, And The Impact Of Illness And Hospitalization On Children And Families.
