Job Description

At Northwestern Medicine, we are looking for a Referral Specialist - Health Resources to join our team. Our ideal candidate is passionate about providing exceptional care and taking ownership of their role in the organization. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, an attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.To be successful in this role, the Referral Specialist - Health Resources must have a Bachelor’s degree in health-related field and at least one year of experience in a health care setting. It is also important for the Referral Specialist - Health Resources to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of health care services, including eligibility criteria, benefits coverage, and other related topics. Our ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, including expertise in Microsoft Office programs.The Referral Specialist - Health Resources is a critical role in the Northwestern Medicine team, and we are excited to find the right candidate to join us.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage incoming referrals to ensure timely and accurate processing and completion.
  2. Monitor and track referrals to ensure they are processed in a timely manner.
  3. Evaluate referrals for eligibility criteria and benefits coverage.
  4. Provide referral information and resources to patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
  5. Collaborate with other medical professionals within the healthcare system to provide optimal care for patients.
  6. Maintain current knowledge of health care services and resources.
  7. Utilize Microsoft Office programs to manage referral information.
  8. Assist in developing and implementing new processes and procedures related to referrals.
  9. Create reports and analyze referral data to identify trends.
  10. Respond to inquiries from patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
