Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Ophthalmic Assistant to join the team at Northwestern Medicine. In this role, you will be responsible for providing assistance to the ophthalmologist in patient care, clinical and administrative duties. The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have at least one year of experience in a medical office setting. They should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.We’re looking for a motivated individual who is passionate about providing excellent patient care and is committed to delivering the highest quality of service. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide assistance to the ophthalmologist in patient care, clinical and administrative duties.
  2. Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor with patients, providers, and staff.
  3. Ensure that all patient records, charts, and data are organized and up-to-date.
  4. Assist with patient examinations, including taking medical histories, administering tests, and providing patient education.
  5. Monitor patient progress and report any changes to the ophthalmologist.
  6. Schedule patient appointments, manage office supplies, and respond to inquiries.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  8. Comply with all health and safety regulations in the workplace.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
