Job Description

Northwestern Medicine is looking for an experienced Inpatient Coder to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess the knowledge and skills necessary to accurately and efficiently code medical records for our inpatient population. This position requires the ability to think critically, to collaborate effectively with teams, and to provide outstanding customer service. If you have the qualifications and experience to take on this challenge, we invite you to apply.Required Qualifications:• Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology, Medical Coding, or a related field• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) certification• At least two years of experience coding inpatient records• Proficient knowledge of ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS coding• Ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced environment• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities:

  1. Accurately and efficiently code medical records for inpatient population.
  2. Utilize ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS coding to ensure accuracy.
  3. Maintain confidentiality of patient records and other sensitive information.
  4. Work independently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Collaborate effectively with coding teams.
  6. Provide outstanding customer service.
  7. Analyze and interpret medical documentation for coding accuracy.
  8. Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and accreditation standards.
  9. Stay up-to-date on the latest coding guidelines and technologies.
  10. Assist with coding related audits.
