
Financial Assessor - Patient Accounting
At Northwestern Medicine, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Financial Assessor - Patient Accounting to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing financial need and determining eligibility of patients for payment assistance. To be successful in this position, you should have a minimum of three years of experience in a financial services role, preferably in a healthcare setting. You should also have a strong understanding of insurance and governmental healthcare programs.We are looking for someone with a strong attention to detail, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain a professional and friendly demeanor while interacting with patients. Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial information and assess patient needs to determine eligibility for payment assistance
- Review insurance and government healthcare program policies to ensure patient eligibility
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient information and payments
- Keep up-to-date on changes in policy and regulations related to patient financial eligibility
- Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate empathy and patience when interacting with patients
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure consistent and accurate reporting
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise with patient payments or eligibility
- Communicate and advise patients on financial options and payment plans
- Utilize effective problem solving skills to resolve disputes and conflicts
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when working with patients, colleagues, and stakeholders
