
Telephone Operator
At Northwell Health, we are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Telephone Operator to join our team! This role is critical in ensuring our patients receive high-quality service throughout their time with us. As the main point of contact for our hospital, the Telephone Operator must possess excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and have a passion for providing exceptional service. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of customer service experience and excellent communication and phone skills. Basic computer navigation knowledge and experience with medical terminology are also required. Responsibilities:
• Answer incoming calls and handle customer inquiries in a professional and friendly manner • Direct calls to the appropriate department or staff member in a timely manner • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers • Record accurate information regarding calls in the phone system • Utilize basic computer navigation skills and knowledge of medical terminology • Take messages, provide general information, and transfer calls as necessary • Maintain a polite and professional telephone manner at all times • Follow up on customer inquiries and ensure customer satisfaction • Follow all hospital policies and procedures related to telephone operations • Monitor the patient phone queue and ensure calls are answered in a timely manner • Troubleshoot any telephone system issues and escalate to the appropriate department as necessary • Utilize time management skills to multitask and prioritize calls efficiently
