Job Description

Welcome to Northwell Health, one of the largest health systems in the country. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and quality of patient care by properly sterilizing and preparing medical instruments and equipment.   1. Perform sterilization processes: Responsible for performing sterilization processes on medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and procedures.
  2. Maintain equipment: Ensure that all equipment used in the sterilization process is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning correctly.
  3. Prepare and package instruments: Properly prepare and package instruments and equipment for sterilization, including following proper protocols for wrapping, labeling, and tracking.
  4. Monitor and record sterilization processes: Monitor sterilization processes to ensure that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and documented according to established protocols.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and organization: Ensure that all work areas, equipment, and instruments are kept clean, organized, and free of contamination.
  6. Adhere to safety standards: Follow all safety protocols and standards to prevent injury or contamination during the sterilization process.
  7. Collaborate with team members: Work closely with other team members, including nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure that instruments and equipment are readily available for procedures.
  8. Troubleshoot and problem solve: Proactively identify and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the sterilization process and work to find solutions to ensure the safety and quality of patient care.
  9. Training and development: Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay updated on best practices, new equipment, and industry standards.
  10. Uphold quality standards: Adhere to all quality standards and regulations, including those set by the Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies.
  11. Maintain inventory: Keep track of inventory levels for instruments and equipment, and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
  12. Maintain records: Accurately record and maintain documentation related to the sterilization process, including sterilization logs and equipment maintenance records.

Job Qualifications
