  1. Accurately and efficiently manage patient accounts, ensuring timely and accurate billing and collections.
  2. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  3. Utilize knowledge of healthcare billing and collections processes to accurately code and bill claims.
  4. Review and analyze patient accounts to identify and resolve billing errors or discrepancies.
  5. Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper documentation and coding for accurate billing.
  6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and policies to ensure compliance and avoid denials.
  7. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness in patient account management.
  8. Communicate with insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations and resolve claims.
  9. Prepare and submit reports on accounts receivable and collections activities.
  10. Mentor and train junior patient account representatives on billing and collections processes.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  12. Act as a liaison between patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing and payment issues.
  13. Ensure all patient interactions are handled with empathy, professionalism, and a patient-centric approach.
  14. Adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
  15. Continuously monitor and follow up on outstanding patient balances to ensure timely payment.
  16. Participate in team meetings and provide suggestions for improving departmental processes and procedures.
  17. Keep accurate records of all interactions and transactions with patients and insurance companies.
  18. Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile accounts and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  19. Stay updated on industry trends and changes in healthcare billing and collections practices.
  20. Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of patient account management.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge Of Healthcare Billing And Collections: A Senior Patient Account Representative At Northwell Health Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Healthcare Billing Processes, Including Insurance Claims Submission, Payment Posting, Denials Management, And Collections.

  • Experience With Electronic Medical Record Systems: Northwell Health Utilizes Various Electronic Medical Record Systems, So A Candidate For This Position Should Be Familiar With These Systems And Be Able To Navigate Them Efficiently.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Senior Patient Account Representative, The Candidate Will Be Required To Communicate With Patients, Insurance Companies, And Healthcare Providers Regularly. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For This Role.

  • Leadership And Team Management Experience: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have Previous Experience In Leading A Team Of Patient Account Representatives. They Should Be Able To Provide Guidance, Support, And Training To Their Team Members To Ensure Optimal Performance.
